Highland Games - Georgetown
If it ain't Scottish It's CRAP!!!
For all who those who know me, they know I take great pride in being a scottish descendant. So much so that I attend any scottish event that I am able to. I'm a mix of many cultures but my scottish blood and temperament come out on top. I'm very sassy and outspoken, which gets me into trouble more often then necessary, but this posting isn't about me and my attitude lol. Moving on to what this post is about, we went to the Highland Games in Georgetown, our second year in a row. I've been to so many I've lost count. This was my stepgirls second time being exposed to my heritage. They seem to enjoy it and look forward to going.
The day was overcast with the threat of rain, I was hoping it wouldn't happen but lightening and thunder rolled in along with rain. It didn't last to long, probably about 30 minutes or so, still it didn't dampen our spirits and the games and fun went on as if it wasn't raining. That's scots for ya! Nothing stops them!!
Lunch time was a bit soggy but we dealt with it and survived, Denny got us fries and soft drinks. OMG I never saw so many fries, I didn't think that we'd finish them.
My favorite part is the pipe band competitions, I could sit and watch them all day. I love music. Its in my soul. Bagpipes and drums are very tribal and touch me deeply. Bagpipes touch my soul and can make me cry for some reason, I'm not sure why. Enough of my sappy self lol. Denny loves the Heavyweight competitions, Tossing the Caber is his favorite. Since I've introduced him to the games he's found a new interest. Not sure if I've created a monster!
