Picnic at the beach

I almost forgot to blog about last weekend! We were heading out for a picnic at a park in Mississauga. First off we headed out to Port Credit to check out an area for a possible future place to call home. I love the feel of Port Credit, it has a smaller town feel to it compared to Toronto.

Finally we went to the beach and brought along our picnic lunch. We had a wonderful time, the lake was beautiful and the weather equally so. Everything was prepared at home just before we left. The last time we had a picnic lunch we didn't have a place to sit and eat other than sitting on a rock. All the tables were taken, this time we were going to be prepared. After we ate the girls wanted to hang out on the beach for to see who could throw a rock the furthest. Once they tired of doing that we went exploring the park. The small park with swings, teeter totters and gym were the next item up for the day. The girls ran off ahead to the swings while we followed behind. I noticed an animal in the tree about the size of a large cat, when I got closer I discovered it was a raccoon. Then movement caught my eye as I saw about 8 little bandits out exploring with Momma. They were so sweet and tiny. Momma didn't like all the attention they were getting so she urged them into the tree and there they stayed.

Taking our time walking back to the beach we stopped at a bridge covering the inlet to the lake. Looking down into the water we spotted a water snake and so did a seagull, well lets just say the water snake is no more. Such in nature. The girls found another one hiding under the foliage close to the waters edge and were excited and hopeful that this one wouldn't come to the same fate as the other. I don't think the girls are exposed often to nature and all its beauty and ugliness. They were fascinated by the minnows swimming by but were soon forgotten. They wanted to head back to the beach once more. Off we went but took a detour, the ice cream truck was calling our name. Ahhh ice cream on a nice warm day hit the spot!

We spent more time at the beach, watching the boats and sea-doo's and wishing we had one. All in all we had a great day, but it was time to leave. The girls were having fun, and didn't want to leave. I couldn't blame them, its a fantastic spot and not too crowded. We will most definitely be returning.
